Our friend Zach Thedog

Our friend Zach Thedog came by Barkz, with his owner Dave. Zach was one of the very first dogs in the play area. Here he is with Joey, trying to peek over the wall to find Dave. Zach thought the play area would be more fun if Dave was in it too!

You can see some of the toys behind them - some balance saucers that teach agility, plus a tunnel for dogs to run through. The play area is only half done right now - the toys are there, but next week some ramps will be installed and some other fun obstacles for dogs to play on.

Also, we are installing a gate to separate the play area if we need to, so that big dogs and little dogs can play separately without anyone getting squashed!

Zach had a good time in the play area, but I think he liked the cookie tray best of all.

My dog, a German Shepard, "April" and I came into Barkz on Saturday, Nov 10. It was her first outing since adopting her from the Washington German Shepard Rescue Group. She came to me with the name "Mud Bay Molly", given to her by her "fan club" down in Olympia who watched her saga unfold. She was the notorius dog who was weaving, and darting in and out of traffic, causing several accidents on HWY 101, just west of Olympia. Kiro7 News did a story on her, maybe you remember...so, anyway, she would not be caught. Finally, humane traps were put out and she gave in to the temptation to have a meal. She was captured behind The Place Restaurant in the Mud Bay community. Go to www.theplaceresturant.com to see the news clips. After months and months of rehabilitation to gain her strength back, since she was dehydrated, starving and had lost most of her fur. she has finally found her forever home. The foster family she was with nursed her back to health again. I applied to adopt a dog from the WGS rescue group, and was paired with her. We have bonded together wonderfully...she loves her new home on Lake Washington. She may still have some healing to do, but it will be under the loving care of her new "mom". The folks at Barkz...Paula, Jen and the team were tremendous in helping me outfit April wih all the latest in dog beds, collars, treats and dog bowls. April will soon be a proud new member of the first innaugural obedience class held at Barkz. She needs a refresher course on some basic commands. She wants to be obedient and just wants to have someone at the end of her leash once again. She will touch your heart if you ever meet her. Look for us on some nice walks around the Marina and downtown as I get her used to hanging out with me.

We're so happy we were able to help out, Laura Anne. And thanks for taking the time to tell us - it really makes us feel great!
